Processor Drives Faster 3D Viewing on PACS

Since specialized clinical applications and 3D imaging by PACS viewers puts a high demand on workstation display controllers, a new graphics processor is designed to perform faster when manipulating large datasets in mammography and accelerate OpenGL and DirectX functions, which are increasingly common in high-end PACS environments.

The graphics processor, the MXRT-7300 by Barco, is fitted with 1GB of memory and a GPU engineered to provide smooth loading and fast processing of large datasets. The 10-bit display controller generates grayscale data sets with 1024 simultaneous levels of gray and over one billion colors. In addition to the traditional DVI-I video outputs, the new processor can drive DisplayPort, making for a transition board.

The processor is compatible with Windows operating systems, including Windows 7. The display controller comes standard with a

5-year warranty. The new board is available as an option with Barco's Coronis 5MP Mammo display system.
