New Radiation-Blocking Medical Garments Introduced at RSNA 2008

December 1, 2008 - Radiation Shield Technologies (RST) introduced the new Demron-M radiation-blocking garments at RSNA 2008.

Demron-M and the entire Demron product line, which has several U.S. and international patents, is an advanced radiopaque, nano-polymeric compound fused between layers of fabric and manufactured into medical garments that provide total radiation protection. Made of liquid metal, Demron is reportedly cool, lightweight and flexible. It’s also environment-friendly: It’s lead-free and toxin-free, and it may be washed, discarded and recycled. In this way, Demron-M offers an alternative to traditional lead garments, which are considered dense, inflexible and prone to cracking. Demron is comfortable and washable, and it has no disposal restrictions. According to the The Spine Journal, 6 (2006) 577-582, Demron is the most lightweight material available for X-ray shielding.
